Default Anyone use Poker Tracker Omaha?

I've purchased it and was looking through their forums for beginner guidance. There is actually a post suggesting I come here for suggestions, go figure.

I searched the Omaha/8 and Omaha High forums for "poker tracker" and "PTO" but didn't turn up anything.

Once I get everything imported (currently in process), does anyone have a suggestion on where I should start?

I've been playing on-line for well over two years now and am a break-even player at the micro-level ($.01/$02 & $.02/$.05) tables. My goal (as I'm sure is everyone's goal) is to slowly work my way up one level at a time when bankroll allows.

Any suggestions on what I should focus on first would be greatly appreciated.

OK, all of my imports are done. Under the Summary tab it shows for me:

Sessions: 468
$ Won: $8.51
Hands: 15,331
Hours: 316.45
BB/100: 3.68
VP$IP: 29.23
PFR %: 0.52
W$SD: 52.67

I sometimes feel like I'm spinning my wheels without getting any traction.

Your very good BB/100 but net profit of only $8 tells me you do well at micro stakes and not when you move up.

Probably you're getting cut up when you face better players because you're a rock. Your PFR% is abysmal. What are your aggression numbers? And is this mostly PL or limit?

You either need to raise your agression or lower your VPIP, I would suggest tightening up and lowering your VPIP based on comments you made

Get this over 55%, I have a feeling lowering your VPIP may lead to getting you into some marginal situations you are getting in now and help raise this number

Olrik - Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go through the old threads and collect the links to all of the old starting hand requirements. Once you do that, we can add those to the FAQ, and you won't need to ask other people to do your legwork for you.

this wasnt about asking ppl to do the legwork for me. following the suggestions of http://www.o8poker.com/ i had a vpip somewhere around 21 (and according to greg 23 is a good number to look for). now the OP states he almost hits 30 so he must loosen up quite a bit and i wanted to know which hands he add to the obvious Axxx combinations.

one of your problems might be simply overcoming the rake.

otherwise, your pfr% is extremely low... probably playing too passively to maxmimize value on good hands.

Wow, I didn't expect this much response. I'll try to answer all of the questions. If I miss something let me know...

I had to go and look up what PFR% (and the other terms) meant. I have to agree. I've only played in live home games and on-line. In a live home game situation I don't hesitate to raise pre flop with solid hands. For some reason, on the micro-online games, I just can't bring myself to do it. It seems I have a crapload of callers even if I pot it in late position anyway. I know this is the wrong mindset and I need to work on this bad habit.

I think my answer to these two is I'm calling too much at the .01/.02 tables. It's odd that I have a different mindset between .01/.02 and the .02/.05 tables. Even if I have a marginal hand at the one/two cent, I find myself calling mid, late, button, and blinds (pretty much everything but EP). I think that's what's pushing my VPIP up so much.

I realized (after I played with PTO some more last night) that my Omaha High and 8/b stats were mixed and I had typed up the 'summary' from all of my Omaha games. I'll type up the summary for each game and table and post it tonight.

[ QUOTE ]
You must have some major leaks to have such a low win rate. To me the most common mistake on the micro tables is playing too many hands. The other costly mistake is calling with weak draws, especially draws to half the pot. Use your PTO to review all the hands you play and look for times when you should have folded instead of calling.

[/ QUOTE ]
I think you're right on this. That's one of the reasons I invested in the PTO, hoping it could help me get out of the woods.
