Confused after flopdonk in capped pot
15/30 6-handed, Pacific Poker
Villain 35/24/2,4, I respect him as a strong regular, probably reading this and probably playing better LHE than I do. No notes about him donking. . Hero opens from the hijack with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero caps, SB calls Flop 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] bet, , raise, raise, call Turn Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] bet, fold |

Re: Confused after flopdonk in capped pot
Well, I asked myself what he would bet with and why (instead of checkraising) and couldnt come up with an answer. Then I feared being bet into at the turn (and river) again and still not having a clue what I'm up against. So I raised, planning to fold the turn if i get 3-bet and dont hit an A or J. Basically it was one of those "to make sure I'm beat" raises that I thought I had overcome a long time ago...

Re: Confused after flopdonk in capped pot
capping preflop is a good play here because the sb will give you credit for a better than AJ usually and play his hand accordingly. he bet right out to 3 bet you which is definitely a hand that has you crushed. not sure i like the flop raise but after the 3 bet i dont know how you can make any decision but to fold the turn. you could maybe make a case for a raise on the turn if you think villain would fold 9s or 8s but you would have to know that from your experience with him.
