Default Why I don\'t mod the Lounge any more

I keep getting asked this in posts and pms, and haven't really explained, but I feel it's worth setting out.

Since Tuq has been modded, traffic has grown a little in the Lounge, but I get the feeling it's still being stifled as it's become known as 'diebitter's forum'. Because of past stupid personality clashes and dumb arguments (which I propagated as much as anyone, so shoot me), this has stopped the forum developing as well as it could.

I also think it's become idenitified by many with the strict rules that were applied from the outset - rules that I think have been identified with me. Those rules have relaxed quite a bit since then, and you can post much more freely.

I felt that the best way to serve the Lounge from now on is not be a mod in it, but remain as a poster and enjoy it instead of being concerned with directing it.

I look forward to seeing the new and improved Lounge under the modship of Katyseagull, Wook and Tubs.

Have fun, you crazy kids.

Not buying it. You know tuqs gonna show the pictures to the seven or eight people that haven't seen them anyway.

So let me get this straight. After all the mess that went down in OOT that resulted in you getting your own forum to run in the way that you wanted a general topic forum to be run, (which only you and a few posters agreed was a good way to run such a forum hence the until now low participant rate), you're now stepping down due to the fact that the forum is identified with you when it was what you wanted all along.

Interesting.

I now personally see no reason for this forum to exist and propose that it promptly be abandoned. The 'technical' reason that you got it in the first place was because you wanted stricter rules. Now those rules are being relaxed. Seems pretty clear cut to me.

The Lounge has its own regulars like the other 3 communities. Just because some people dont like it, does not make it a worthless forum.

Ads,

I always like your posts, so please take this in the friendly spirit intended.

The Lounge is its own community, albeit smaller than some of the other OT forums. Of the four, it's the one I'm most likely to hang with.

So, Don't taze me bro!

Of course it's it's own community, and that paragraph that you quoted was obviously tounge-in-cheek. I'm sure that you guys have got a good little thing going over there and all the best for you.

But my first paragraph stands. The spirit with which the lounge came about was very negative, disruptive and childish. But seeing as DB no longer mods there I will make the effort to drop in now and then. And I'm glad you like my posts.

why do you feel the need to bash a forum others enjoy and ask for it's abandonment? It's my favorite forum on 2+2.
