Thoughts on turn play? what do you do on river?
Villain was 40/20 over a tiny sample. This is an old hand so i cant remember what my thought process was on the turn. I think i checked with the intention of c/r when he bets all his draws. Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) Hero (SB): $64.45 BB: $25.05 UTG: $51.00 CO: $81.75 BTN: $50.95 Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players) 3 folds, Hero raises to $2.00, BB calls $1.50 Flop: ($4) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $2.50, BB calls $2.50 Turn: ($9) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero checks, BB checks River: ($9) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero ?? |

i'd have bet the turn, cause i hate giving free cards.

[/ QUOTE ] Firstly we don't really 'want' his stack. We're betting to protect our hand, also for value, but mainly to protect. Chances are you are never going to get his stack in this hand, well from something that doesn't beat you at least. We expect to get value from Ax, A with 2nd pair, non believing KT etc. Secondly the bet on the river makes us less susceptible to bluffs after showing weakness on the turn. Ideal line - Bet turn, bet river. As played bet fold $6 on river. In my opinion. |

Yeah, bet the turn about 7-8, club draws are huge part of his range, as are weaker tens that will call down, b/f this river for a little over half the pot.

![]() Guys, b/f river, wtf? I do not get this at all. Are you saying that he is more likely to have a T AND call a bet with it than show up with a flush or straight here? |

If he raises, he almost certainly has you beat, but you can get value from weaker tens, aces that peeled the flop light, pocket pairs, A4, A2, if he is that bad, etc.

BET the turn..To many draw to risk a CR...If villain is on a draw how do you know he will bet your hand for you...If villain is drawing the only way you'll get money out of him is by betting the turn...If villain is on a draw he will call a turn bet but may not bet a draw..Then a draw will fold to your river bet..If villain does have a weaker made hand a C/R loses mad value vs a bet/bet line...Even a blind donkey can see the strength in a C/R and fold..
IMO checking this turn looking for a CR is a huge leak and will cost OP massive EV over the long run.. |

If i bet he is more likely to fold a T or mid pair. If i check he will also likely check behind but then i have a better chance of extracting on blank rivers. On the other hand if villain has a draw he will probably call a bet, however, isn't the Ace a good bluff card for him to bet at here? I think he will bet his draws enough to make it profitable. I'm not trying to say that c/r turn is the right play but just throwing out some food for thought. |
