External HDD Issue
After a couple years of use, my WD external HD is having a hardware issue.
The USB input on the back got pushed inside the hard drive. I'm guessing I plugged in the USB cord with too much force. So, I took apart the casing and retrieved the piece thinking I could put it back and everything would work fine. Well, apparently there's 4 little pins on the bottom of the piece that connect to a green circuit/motherboard(?) type thing. So after replacing the piece the computer still doesn't recognize the hard drive. How can I fix this? I have around 160GB on the drive so it's pretty important to me. |

Re: External HDD Issue
I'd need to a picture to be sure but you might be able to pull the HD out of the casing and install it as a normal drive?

Re: External HDD Issue
Like other have stated...not a big issue, open the unit up, take the HDD out, reinstall it as a regular drive, or install it an a new USB encolsure.
