Straddle in a home tournament?
Should the be allowed? Do you allow them? Arguments for or against?
It honestly never occured to me until someone asked me about it this week. My inclination is to not allow it, but I am having a hard time coming up with good reasons why. -- Scott |

Raising blind is allowed, straddling is not. |

Re: Straddle in a home tournament?
There is no reason to disallow it (save the tournament thing above). Straddling is fun, especially amongst friends. Gamboool!

I gotta ask, what is "straddling"? Thanks in advance. [/ QUOTE ]I'll be nice and avoid any cheap shots and explain. A straddle is a "live" bet made by the UTG. By "live", I mean, he will have last action, not the BB, pre-flop if nobody raises him. Some casinos allow it, some don't. Usually they allow a blind raise, but your action is not "live". People do it to build pots and gamble. Not allowed in tourneys. |

Re: Straddle in a home tournament?
I allow them in my cash games but as the rules state, I only allow 1 "live straddle" per player...it's fun at a social cash game

Why wouldn't you want someone putting in more money with a random hand, out of position? Straddling, which is different (though the term is used for both by people)? No, causes too many problems for people. I believe it may not be allowed in tourneys to discourage collusion possibilities, but I'm probably wrong. |

Re: Straddle in a home tournament?
i can only see two upsides to stradling. you get position pre flop since ur last to act. also if you get a really good hand you can reraise yourself.
