Play a hand against me and maximize your value: Part 2, Turn Card
OK, in the other thread I explained my argument for raising either the turn or the river with your set of fives depending on what the turn card was.
In the actual hand, my opponent (in this case, you) decided to smooth call my flop 3 bet (a mistake I think, I believe the flop should have been capped). In any event, the turn was the A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The board now reads Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I bet. Your plan? |

We have like, a set here right? Cap the turn cuz he'll def 3bet AQ here.

Re: Play a hand against me and maximize your value: Part 2, Turn Card
it's now 24:18 hands that get scared/fold to a turn raise verus hands that give more action(because they're better, drawing, or think they're best).
call and raise the river if villain will bluff with a busted draw or bet with 99-KK when they would have folded to a turn raise. we're getting action from AQ/AhKh regardless. this also allows the busted draws to back into a pair and pay off a raise. a major drawback being we likely must call a 3bet even if a heart comes in, which sucks. |

Raise.
The shadow cast by the AA or QQ you may be holding is looming large, larger if you three bet, but at this stage, the range of hands you might have still justifies the raise. |

Re: Play a hand against me and maximize your value: Part 2, Turn Card
raise, the only thing that might beat us is a higher set, and i am not yet worried about that yet...if i get 3 bet here after capping the flop, then i begin to get concerned and call the 3 bet then call down...
nice idea for post flop play in a separate thread, but maybe you might provide a link to the orginal thread next time as the set up and pre-flop play is in that thread...thanks |

What James said. Totally couldn't have said that better myself. I agree, however, that the flop smooth call sucks.
