Re: Settle an argument (Stud8 3rd street decisions)
i would generally say no as you are against all 8b cards up, there is an ace up and you first to act. if the game is playing very tight i might play but generally i would fold as you hand will pretty obvious and it would be easy for the lows to outplay you.

One way, face up hands suck with the boards yet to act especially.

Raise. If A re-raises: fold.

I think it's largely personal preference and dependent on the table texture. Either raise or fold, but I almost always fold, particularly with the Ace still to act.

I don't fold because there's an ace out, but I do if the ace raises. Then again it is 1-2 and split aces may just call a raise. I think it's a mistake to fold just because there is an ace yet to act. Since there are so many low cards out, wouldn't that diminish villains's odds of drawing a low? |

And having an obvious high hand against multiple low draws stinks. |

Fold, not close. Microscopic ante, everything behind you is scary.

Fold, not close. Microscopic ante, everything behind you is scary. [/ QUOTE ] How would you adjust to a big ante? All the big ante games I played in so far (a handful) were too loose so I couldn't adjust in this type of hand. If you were playing at a table full of guys who knew how to play correctly and the A was not reckless then raise/fold might be the correct play. |
