Villain is a little too loose pf but seems to play reasonable post.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Button ($18.30) SB ($25.90) Hero ($26.80) UTG ($69.05) MP ($25.30) CO ($20.05) Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Button calls $0.25, SB completes, Hero raises to $1.25, Button calls $1, SB folds. Who raises more here? Flop: ($2.75) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $1.75, Button calls $1.75. I would usually bet more like 2.25 here but decided to switch it up as 1.75 is my usual continuation bet with something likie AK . After his call i feel hes got clubs, a medium q, or slowplaying an 8. Turn: ($6.25) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $3.75, Button calls $3.75. Again i bet small. Im giving him odds to draw to his flush, but im also almost certain hes raising an 8 here(and only an 8) so i felt betting small would make it super easy to get away from a raise. After my bet he uses time bank and says in chat "big hand popeye?" IM now like 95% certain hes got a weak queen. River: ($13.75) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $4, I bet small here cause he wanted to fold so bad on the turn and i want him to make a "well its so small lets see what he has" call. Final Pot: $21.75 |

PF is okay.
Your c-bet needs to be bigger so you can bet bigger when you have a monster (like here). Turn bet is too small. I generally want to play for stacks with AA (this flops pretty bad for that though), so I try to build the pot as much as possible. And as soon as possible. River I dunno, if you're pretty much sure he has a weak Q, it's alright. |

I think your c-bet was fine, but from there I agree with Bus.
Another option was to bet much bigger on 5th, somewhere in the realm of $8.50-$10, and induce a bluff. Course you would really have to follow through on your read of a weak queen. |

With this villian would this be a good situation to check river to induce bluff? If you think he is going to fold does it matter if you bet $4 or more on river?

I really really hate checking this river. I have a super strong read here he has a weak queen and he was hesitant to call my turn bet. Hes not going to bet this river, ever.

Bet more everywhere. 1/2 pot is ok on a blank river given your read, but this isn't a blank river. He can have QJ.

I'm making it $2 here. I add a little more since I'm the BB.
Flop I'm making at least a 3/4 pot bet, and potting the turn. River is more feel I think. If you put him on a hand like a weaker Q, then I agree with the bet as big as you think he'll call mentality. The thing is that you need to make the pot bigger so that your small bet is still decent sized! |
