2500nl- TPTK+F draw turns to junk: standard?
About 150 hands in against a mediocre player, who has made some definite glaring mistakes. I've been quite aggressive, lost a 3k pot with a set vs. his TPWK+flush draw, all-in on the turn. Unfortunate, but he's floated me a few times on the flop with big air and some gutshots, etc. Is this pretty standard?

I prefer betting the flop since he's a floater but I don't mind checking against some opponents .
Everything looks pretty good to me . |

jay - you mean bet the river? OP did bet flop and turn.
OP, I think this is fine. Obviously the alternative is to ck turn and bet river, but you can't do that every time. This line gets more value out of weaker pairs and draws, while probably getting less value out of pure floats. On this board, I'm ok with that. |

Yup , I was just acknowledging how I thought he played the flop well .
Against other opponents , I may have checked the flop . |

I guess bet sizing (especially on turn) is meta, but I dont like to pot/pot/pot HU. Do you do this against all opponents, or just this guy in particular.
I play it the same, outside of bet sizing on turn. |

I think it's a big mistake not to bet the flop if you think he will call you with many inferior hands .
Against other opponents , I would take a different line of action but always keep this in mind against floaters . |

In my inexperienced eyes this also looks very fine to me.
With the exception of the turn bet size (which I tend to make a bit smaller) and the occasional check turn/bet river line I too would play this exactly like you. |

I'd check behind on the turn. I think you make more by encouraging villains to bluff river than by getting called by worse on the turn.

Re: 2500nl- TPTK+F draw turns to junk: standard?
I'm a very aggressive player, and on UB, I've developed a successful aggressive game by manipulating my opponents using the bet pot button. I play a lot of big pots, and get looked up weak often. Very rarely will I make a turn bet smaller here. If I'm going to valuetown, I do it a lot on the river with something like 1/2 to 3/4 pot bets as opposed to pot sized bets. (of course sometimes I'll bluff with value sized bets as well as pot sized ones)

looks good to me on the 1st three streets though I'm with abreu, pot pot pot can get a little dangerous HU.
you might be able to squeak out a thin value bet on the riv, but that's dependent on opponent; a check behind is entirely reasonable. |
