switching from live 1-2 to 2-5nl
Ive been playing at taj recently in AC, 1-2. been cleaning it up regularly. Is there much of a difference between 2-5 and 1-2.
I was also thinking of switching to the Borgata. Any experiences on 2-5nl at Borgata compared to the Taj. thanks in advance |

Re: switching from live 1-2 to 2-5nl
I was in your EXACT spot about 3 months ago. Was killing it at the Taj 1/2 and decided to step up to the Borgata 2/5. Note that when paying time you get more hands in per hour at the Borgata due to all tables having the auto-shufflers. When I first moved up I found my win rate to be about the same, but had a much higher variance at 2/5. I expect this might be typical. Though not super strategic, the play is much different from 1/2 stack-a-donk. I feel that my game has really grown since stepping up and that you will see the same. Good luck!

Re: switching from live 1-2 to 2-5nl
I've been a regular in the Borgata 2/5 for a couple months now (coming from the other way, but I digress) - its a pretty beatable game.
Only advice is know your regulars - some are pretty awful and most are tellboxes. Game selection is going to be a huge part of your EV. The time charge is not bad, if you feel a bit nitty about it - go for the time pots if its a stable game - I paid $25 in total time for my six hours last Saturday. |

[/ QUOTE ] How do time pots work for this game? How often do they do this? I dont play at Borgata much, but Ive never seen a time pot in the 2-5 game. |

Re: switching from live 1-2 to 2-5nl
When I ran it this weekend, we did it at 200 and 400.
(First pot $200 or greater pays half the time, second the remainder, if the first pot is over $400, it pays full time). Out of 8 or 9 time pot downs, only one took more than three hands to complete. |

Re: switching from live 1-2 to 2-5nl
thanks for the info. once u moved up, did u experience the play to be alot tighter, and are you still playing 2-5 right now. i was thinking of just buying in for like $300 and seeing how the play was before i bought in for the full $500.

never really paid a time charge before. is this just paid instead of having a rake?

Re: switching from live 1-2 to 2-5nl
Time charge for this game is $5 per player per half hour. It replaces rake (which does speed up the game). It is taken as a new dealer sits down - if you are out (eating, bathroom, whatever) it is still taken from your stack.
