Stars 22+1r+A CL with 15 left, blow-up or bad luck?
Last night I played the Stars 22$ Semi-freezeout, I'd been playing my absolute A game and was pretty much walking over my table.
We were down to 15 players (first 5.7k) and I was in first with about 350k. Nr 2 had about 180k. This is where it starts, is this bad luck or did I make some mistakes? BTN had repopped me once before. This was the third time in a row I raised and I was convinced he was making a play. Correct move? Re: Stars 22+1r+A CL with 15 left, blow-up or bad luck?
I think your KJs is too weak to play against a 3-bet from button, i would fold - if you want you can call because of the good pot odds - but you have hit the flop very good to continue. i'd never 4-bet with KJs.

Re: Stars 22+1r+A CL with 15 left, blow-up or bad luck?
1st hand: the last time he repopped you, was it a similar sized raise? as it is I wouldn't think he's reraising super wide considering he put in 1/3 of his stack..so you don't have the FE necessary to re-resteal...I might call it but not shove...maybe a stop-n-go if you're intent on putting him to a decision
hand 2: standard. hand 3: if you're raising into a bb with that stack I think you have to be prepared to call a shove from him hand 4: how much are antes? I might just shove it preflop hand 5: definite shove |

I actually thought about hand 1 for a while and then concluded he was FOS. After my push he went in the tank for about 10 seconds and then called with 97hh. He spiked a 9 to ship the pot. |

If you're on the final table bubble and your open-raising a lot (like u should be as CL) random players are more likely to wait for a hand to trap u with, rather than play back at you light. This is not always true, but i think it takes more than a previous 3-bet to conclude that this is a str8 resteal. In the QJo button raise, i think i check behind with your stack. There are a some good cards that could come on the turn that i would bet/call/raise such as an A;T;Q;J. With an Ace , u can rep it, a 10 u can semi-bluff OESD, and a Q/J you're prob ahead of his range. This is (generally speaking) a good flop to c-bet, but i think i check behind here. Overall i like your play, and i wouldn't lose any sleep over this. |

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks for your advice There were some other hands with villain in hand 1 that made me believe he would come over the top very lightly in this spot. About his call; 97hh is a fold here right? And you're right about the QJ hand, villain c/r bluffed me ai with J9o [/ QUOTE ] U mean he had 97hh in hand #1? As long as you guys weren't deep into some kind of metagame 3rd/4th level game of chicken...button was getting almost 2 to 1 after your 4-bet. If your 4-betting range is: 99+;AJs+;AQo+, then he has 30% equity vs. your range, so his call is slightly EV-. Given that your read was correct, your 4-bet also should have had decent FE IMO. FWIW i think that you outplayed him in this hand. |

Re: Stars 22+1r+A CL with 15 left, blow-up or bad luck?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Last night I played the Stars 22$ Semi-freezeout, I'd been playing my absolute A game and was pretty much walking over my table.
I think this post is a good opportunity for a basic request to all:
Please use the quote function in a sensible way. Quote passages you want to refer to. Please don't quote whole posts, and please never do that a priori. This leads - like in this post to a terrible mess, where it's very hard for following up posters to get a line. |

Re: Stars 22+1r+A CL with 15 left, blow-up or bad luck?
First hand: KJs, after Villain raise there's 50K in the Pot and Villain has 50K behind, so I like the Push here. What are we going to do, stop and go? It's even money going in and that about where we are.
Second hand: AK on the button and we get allin PF...is that a bad thing? Third hand: 66 There's 70K in the pot and it costs us 40K to call makes it an easy 1.7-1 call. Fourth hand: semi obvious blind steal w/QJ. People say that there's no such thing as a 'rush' but people also said that a curveball is an optical illusion. After getting clipped on three consecutive hands, the urge is to go into turtle mode and wait for a really good hand but now we're in Orange Zone territory and need to add back to the stack. It's gut check time, do we feel good about it or do we pass and I could just as easily pass this up. Fifth Hand: K9 on the Button in the Death Zone in chips. Easy Push. The only semi-questionable hand is the QJ and that's a coin flip on weather to play or not. |
