Trigonometry Help Please!
converting 14.173 degrees to Degrees Minutes and Seconds I get 14 degrees 10 minutes and 22.8 seconds.......However How do I take 14 degrees 10 minutes and 22.8 seconds and convert it back to decimal degrees to get my original 14.173 degrees?
I am not getting it: I am doing 10/60 and getting .166666... now what? Thanks in advance! |

[/ QUOTE ] 1 arc-minute = 1/60 degree 1 arc-second = 1/60 arc-minute = 1/3600 degree Thus 14 degrees, 10 minutes, and 22.8 seconds in degrees is: degrees = 14 + 10*(1/60) + 22.8*(1/3600) = 14.173 |

Re: Trigonometry Help Please!
Back it up one more step. 22.8/60 is 0.38 minutes. NOW do 10.38/60, you get .173, add that to 14, and tada! 14.173
I hope this (a) makes sense (b) works for you. |
