ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
I think this is pretty cool, you guys should check it out.
http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/ballot?event_id=2047 It lists a bunch of potential Team USA players and you have to select 12 to make a team. Here's the list for those who don't wanna use the link: C. Anthony, G. Arenas, S. Battier, C. Billups, C. Bosh, B. Bowen, E. Brand, K. Bryant, D. Howard, J. Howard, L. James, A. Jamison, J. Johnson, R. Lewis, S. Marion, B. Miller, A. Morrison, Greg Oden, C. Paul, M. Redd, JJ Reddick, L. Ridnour, A. Stoudamire, D. Wade. Here's my team in no particular order of importance: Frontcourt: 1. Elton Brand 2. Bruce Bowen 3. Shawn Marion 4. Brad Miller 5. Amare Stoudamire Bowen is there to D up the opposition's best player. Brand and Stoudamire can play power forward. Marion can rebound, run in transition, and score. Brad Miller is the only no brainer on the entire roster IMO, because he's the only center and can run the break, pass, and score. Everyone in my frontcourt can rebound. The backcourt: point guards: 6. Chauncy Billups 7. Chris Paul IMO, either are capable of running this offense. The shooting guards/swingmen: 8. Lebron James 9. Dwayne Wade I've chosen these 2 over Kobe just because I think they do more to get their teammates involved and help the team win. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with any 2 of the 3, but you certainly don't need all 3. The rest: 10. Gilbert Arenas An offensive-minded guard who can light it up and/or run the point. I think he's more versatile than Kobe, too. 11. Dwight Howard Felt like this team needed another forward, so I went the #1 rebounder in the NBA. 12. JJ Reddick Yeah, this kills me, but you may need somebody who can hit three-pointers (though with this team, you really shouldn't). My plan is to put him on the pine unless we get waaaaay behind. I bolded Greg Oden because I have no idea who he is. Also, I left my favorite player, Paul Pierce, off the team. Even though he is having the finest offensive season of his life, I don't think he could really benefit this team. Your thoughts? |

I bolded Greg Oden because I have no idea who he is. [/ QUOTE ] He is a college recruit. He is commited to the Ohio State University next year. They have been talking about him since he was like in 7th grade. |

Chauncy Billups
Chris Paul JJ Redick Kobe Bryant Dwyane Wade Lebron James Bruce Bowen Elton Brand Dwight Howard Brad Miller Amare Stoudemire Shane Battier/Greg Oden... (this really depends on how well Oden develops, if he's not ready this last spot goes to Battier) |

Arenas can score but not as good as Kobe. He's not a very good true point guard, maybe not even as good as Kobe, and he doesn't play D or rebound as well as Kobe. Other than he is a little quicker, he does nothing better than Kobe, IMO. |

He's not as good of a scorer as Kobe, but not as selfish either. I think he can make the players around him better than Kobe would. Besides, this team needs role players, not more stars. |

Re: ESPN.com: build your own Team USA
Arenas is a combo guard. He is supposed to score and he will want to score. You can't say "well he is a point guard" and thus feel he is a good addition to a team that needs role players. The same could be said about Stephon Marbury or Steven Francis. They certainly know how to pass the ball but ultimately they would be a detriment to a team that could not cater them as primary scoring options.
