Default $11 CO and 33

Hi,

Stars Sunday 100k

PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t100 (9 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

UTG (t1880)
UTG+1 (t3015)
MP1 (t1040)
MP2 (t2600)
MP3 (t4315)
Hero (t4380)
Button (t4890)

BB (t2320)

Preflop: Hero is in CO with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
<font color="gray">UTG folds</font>, <font color="gray">UTG+1 folds</font>, <font color="gray">MP1 folds</font>, <font color="gray">MP2 folds</font>, <font color="gray">MP3 folds</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to t250</font>, <font color="gray">Button folds</font>, <font color="gray">SB folds</font>, BB calls t150

River: (t2150) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
<font color="red">BB bets t500</font>, <font color="gray">Hero folds</font>

Vilain was very active (same vilain than this hand )

Fold preflop, limp ?

On flop, he bets his entire preflop range, imo, but my hand is quite weak / vulnerable. Fold or call ?

On the turn, this is probably spew, but his bet is so small. What do you think ?

On the river, I almost have the nut low.

any ideas ?

Limp or raise preflop depends on how the table has acted so far, usually i prefer the raise here too.

On the flop I would have folded - if he playes a PP himself you are beaten (except 22). And the bet doesn't look as if he is on a draw - maybe he plays 2 overcards - but i think you are behind here most of the time.

I like the raise pre, but I think with these blinds, raising in LP with the tiny PPs is 90% a steal and should be played as such. I know you'll win sometimes showing down unimproved, but its pretty hard to get to that showdown after 5 overs have hit the board....

Post flop I don't really like your line, call, call, fold is pretty bad IMO. If I'm playing this hand, I'm going to be raising at some point, probably the turn. His flop bet tells me he has something but isnt particularly strong, put him to a hard decision on the turn with a pot sized bet.

That said folding flop is fine as well.

I like raising here preflop.

I think you can fold the flop here against this donkish opponent. Even if you're ahead on the flop, you're just slightly ahead of a fairly wide range. Find a better spot to play against this guy.

raise on the flop to get some info. Flop bet seems kind of weak. I probably would either limp or fold 33 here.

Never-ever (!!!) open-limp with a small PP from late position! You want to "steal" the blinds - you definitely have no interest in either seeing the flop 3-handed or being raised preflop!

Raise more preflop (like 300-350). Your bet is nearly unfoldable for BB, getting 2,6:1!

On the flop this is either a fold or a raise imho. Active villains seem to like donking a paired-flop, expecting that it missed you in the majority of time. If he calls or reraises you, then you´re done naturally.

Palying mainly turbo STT, I'm used to those 2.5xBB raises which are perfect for v short stack poker.

You're right, of course.

why not limp if you think you can outplay the blinds?
What is wrong with keeping the pot small here with a marginal holding?

Would you open-limp (!) with Q8o (<font color="red">*</font>)?

If you plan to "outplay" the blinds, your actual holding is irrelevant, you could do it with 72o, obviously. The problem with 33 is, that nearly always the flop will bring three overcards to your low pair (<font color="red">*</font>). Nobody raised preflop so anybody is invited to take the pot. What are you doing then if the flop comes 479r and BB bets? You simply have to fold. If you instead raise preflop and (only) BB calls you, than you a) are heads-up and b) have a reasonable chance to be still ahead!

(<font color="red">*</font>)Remember: With 33 you are nearly coinflipping against a random hand (with 22 you actually are!)!! The equity of Q8o against random is nearly exactly the same as 33.
