LOL Mav I like you more and more
99% of it is just gymnastics tumbling moves, so you just want to find a cool gymnastics class. |

Unless theres a dedicated gym, pick up gymnastics. Sadly my city has no gyms for anything, and I can't bring myself to goto the regular gymnastics stuff. |

Re: learning parkour
do some google searching, depending on where you live chances are there are a group of people who do this in your city, and have formed a club or group. I wanted to get into this too and searched around and found a group in my city and they were all about new people and showing them stuff. I would imagine thats the case with most clubs anywhere.

Re: learning parkour
1) Start jumping off buildings.
2).... 3) Profit Seriously though, all these guys started in a gym on a mat with some padded platforms or whatever. You can also just make really simple stuff like: precision jump platform - just nail a 2x4 to a couple shorter boards to make a raised platform 3.5inches wide. Jump onto it without falling off, repeat. Poke some sticks into the ground and tie some string between them - jump over it. Jump off things onto grass and roll. Add running etc. etc. |

Re: learning parkour
Yeah I doubt this needs a gym.. All a gym will provide is a defendant for your impending lawsuit.

Re: learning parkour
I think guys doing this could also get some benefit from going to a judo class, where you learn falling by getting thrown constantly. You get really, really good at minimizing the cost of slamming into the ground.

[/ QUOTE ] Meh, someone who is actually skilled at parkour is completely comfortable falling/jumping from 20feet up and rolling out. But yeah, some guys might just be in it to do flips and stuff and not much emphasis on safety and traversing urban terrain at speed. |
