my 2+2 article: mid-stakes reaction?
I'd like to know if MSNL hold'em folks have any reaction (including criticism or skepticism) to my article on the science of tilt in this months 2+2 magazine. I'm specifically interested in the thoughts of MSNL hold'em players because I think the consequences of tilt are greatest in NLHE (and even in NLHE, tilt only becomes really important at MSNL and above).

Just had a read, good article. I think the more introspective among us rarely make different plays based on our results, but no one is immune.

Re: my 2+2 article: mid-stakes reaction?
silent: True fish can't tilt. They might appear to tilt, because they are angry and playing poorly, but this is somewhat misleading because the anger is simply redundant with their bad play and so this correlation gives rise to a false causal interpretation. To the extent a player is stronger on the fundamentals, he has more room to fail to apply those fundamentals because of tilt.
Edit: I should add another point (and one that might be worth expanding into a subsequent article). When a lot of the players at a table are weak on fundamentals, then the difference in fundamental skill is what primarily separates the profitable from unprofitable players. As fundamental skill of the average player gets stronger, then factors that are marginal at lower levels (like tilt control, inducing tilt) all of a sudden aquire more importance. A similar logic accounts for success or failure of online players trying to transition to live play. |

silent: True fish can't tilt. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure I get this. If a given player is bad to begin but plays worse as the session goes on doesn't that mean he is tilting? |

True fish definitely do tilt by playing even worse than normal. In fact almost all true fish do tilt all the time. |
