Default \"I make it 1200\" no idea what to do

So I'm dealing tonight at at local LV casino tournamnent. The blinds just changed from 300/600 to 500/1000. An elderly lady from under the gun (senior moment, maybe) says I'll make it 1200. It's a $60 tournament at the final table. (4 tables to start) Is it just a call or can she make the minnimum raise? I had no idea as a dealer.

I always thought if someone said " I make it.." if would be the same as saying "I raise". I believe the correct ruling would be she should have to put in a min raise of 2000. For this lady i would of just said miss blinds are 500-1000 if you want to raise it has to be 2000 just to be a nice guy. If other people bitched well tough [censored] shes old and deserves a break.

This is a call. If the amount mentioned orally (or placed above the betting line) is halfway or greater than the big blind (or amount to be called), then it's counted as a minimum raise (in most casinos). In other words, if she said "I make it 1500," then she would have to make it 2000. There's no such ruling that I've heard of that explicits the words "I make it" with any jurisdictions one way or the other. You're allowed to say "I'll make it a call."

I disagree.

Like RR said recently, it's rarely a good idea to tell a player, "I know you intended to do X, but I'm going to make you do Y."

If this happens when I'm dealing, I call time, stop the action, and explain her options to her.

If any player has a problem with that, I say, "FLOOR!", and shut my mouth.

That may be right i wasnt sure either way. I was playing at 10/20 at the Borgata last month and this kid said preflop i will make it..he then paused for about 20 seconds counting his chips in which he never made any forward action..he then said 10. The dealer actually said to the player u have to put in 20. Kid bitched for a second but threw in the 20. Floor was standing right behind me and said dealer was right and not one of the other players at the table said a thing. Thats why i thought in the OP's situation it would be considered a raise.

Wow, that's very strict. I understand the ruling but that really crosses the line for me. Saying "I make it" is so innocent, as player say "I'll just make the call" so often. That's being way too anal, especially if the kid wasn't even looking at the other players when he said "I'll make it...".
