ATo, on the button.
Online 5-10 shorthanded, playing 5 handed at the moment.
Villian is 39/4/.41 with only 30 hands in the database. I openraise ATo on the button. SB folds, Villian calls in the BB. Flop, T77 rainbow. BB donks, I call. Turn, J. BB bets, I call. River 9 BB bets, I call. Comments? |

I would raise the turn and fold to 3 vs this guy.

[ QUOTE ]
I would raise the turn and fold to 3 vs this guy. [/ QUOTE ] If you raise the turn, and he calls, do you bet the river? Fold to a river checkraise? I was trying to balance value I got here by being ahead, with the price I would have to pay if I was behind. If he had a ten, on the river, I was also behind, JT, T9, and T8. But at the same time, I was wondering if I shouldn't get a raise in somewhere with TPTK. It also concerned me, that some good players might be donking this flop with a 7, looking for a chance to threebet. And at the same time, I wondered if he had some random bluff, if I wouldn't lose my customer with a raise. |

Re: ATo, on the button.
dont you think you're missing too much value vs. QT, KT, Tx, any PP, etc?
and i would think any PP would look you up on this board, as your turn raise looks suspicious. fwiw if I raised the turn, i would bet/fold the river against most opponents (some like to bluff on any 4 card straight board regardless of previous action, so against them i wouldnt fold). |

Re: ATo, on the button.
against this guy you *could* value-raise the river. the board will protect you and he'll usually payoff any hand you beat that he's betting anyway. absolutely must fold to a 3bet, though. since it's thin to begin with, we may gain more value just guaranteeing a showdown.

Re: ATo, on the button.
I like the WA/WB line here against a probable passive opponent.

Results.
Ok, I played WA/WB on this hand, and it turned out that I was WA. My opponent had pocket 4s, and I think with the board as scary as it was at the end, a raise, probably wouldn't have gotten paid off.
The only real question, is if I knew what he had, and I had raised the turn, would he have paid me off, there, and again on the river, or would I have lost out on one bet, by being more aggressive. I posted it, because I thoought that it was a pretty common situation that was a kinda interesting. |
