I'm reading his new book "Professional No Limit Holdem Volume one" which is a very good book for intermediate players looking to take their game to the new level. However, there is a hand he has in here that I was pretty surprised by.
I'm posting this in medium stakes even though this is a 1-2nl hand because I think his reasoning behind his play is a bit more in depth than some of the analysis that goes on in the small stakes forum. You can move it if you feel necessary though. Anyway, onto the hand. You are playing 1-2nl at a very LAG table. Standard raise is to $20. Effective stack size is $400. The only fairly tight player at the table raises to $20 from Late middle position. Folded to you in the BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I'll post later what he suggests you do here. |

capped game? what's the cap? what are the other stack sizes? assuming 200bb cap and no one has more than 200bb, i'd fold.

Here are the qualifiers from the text: It's a wild $1-$2 live game, the "standard" opening raise is $20, and effective stacks are $400. You are perceived as very loose and willing to gamble. You estimate your relatively tight opponent's range as AA-TT, AK-AJ, ATs, KQs, and possibly KJs and weaker suited big cards.
