Somewhat solid, shot-taker opens in EP I 3bet red QQ, unknown button ccs 3 and sb calls.
Flop:T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] check, I bet, button raises, sb ccs, Ep folds, I 3 bet, all call. Turn:6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Bet or check? Keep in mind that villains are unknown. |

bet and probably ditch it if someone springs to life.

Re: Dont usually post bet or check hands
Seems like a straightforward "bet without outs" type of situation.

bet and probably ditch it if someone springs to life. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like folding vs an unknown with an overpair when he could be isolation raising or free showdown raising getting 27:4 effective odds with an overpair. |

Re: Dont usually post bet or check hands
bet, and fold to a raise if SB CRs you. If button pops it, you have to say a prayer to electrical jesus, call, and hope he has jacks w/ a spade or AT with 1 spade.

Re: Dont usually post bet or check hands
Bet for sure. Decide if you get raised but I definitely call down more often than I fold.

Re: Dont usually post bet or check hands
I also bet for sure but fold more often than not. Very very player dependent.

Re:Turn
I checked the turn ready to give up and button checks. River is a 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and sb bets. What now?

Re: Dont usually post bet or check hands
Originally thought checking the turn was best. But now I think betting was probably better. Your overpair is essentially face-up after the flop play. They know what you got, and you're not sure what they got. (Reminds me of a recent hand where I 3-bet PF on button with KK. EP bet out flop and I raised, he called. Turn is a nothing, I bet and He CR, I call down his AA).
When you pound pre-flop, and the flop, if you bet, you have to bet/fold because your hand is face-up. I think you can bet/call a lot more when the pre-flop action is just a raise (not a 3-bet), and the flop is just a bet (not a raise, or 3-bet), because this looks like AK, and invites people to take shots at you. I think the way you played it is fine. Bet/calling down a better hand would have been horrible. I guess Bet/folding is optimal, but i couldn't do it myself yet... |
