200$PLO: Hilarious action, and I have AAxx
So, this was pretty weird... I have not played much with any villains before. Up to now, this session, they have seen pretty loose passive.
What should I do in the first place? I figuered I couldn't get them off many hands with a standard raise, so the action was actually as I hoped for after I limped. When it comes back to me, I thought I had some FE. And the third time... Well, lol. Inputs? Poker Stars Pot Limit Omaha Ring game Blinds: $1/$2 6 players Converter Stack sizes: Hero: $206.75 UTG+1: $84.85 CO: $74.95 Button: $178.60 SB: $48 BB: $229.30 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, CO raises to $4, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls, Hero raises to $26, UTG+1 folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB raises all-in $48, BB calls, Hero ??? |

These aces are so ugly I wouldnt even go for the limp-raise. Maybe if there were only one or two people in but against five it seems like a really bad spot to put your self in. As you can see almost the entire table calls your re-raise and if the Sb doesnt move in you got to checkfold almost any flop without an ace.
I wouldnt repot here, I would call and pray for an ace and pretty much check fold anything on the flop. The CO probably isnt going away for another raise which will probably induce the button to call and the BB will probably call too. I might repot with good double suited aces who have some middle cards working like 6-7 or 9-10. With AA23 no suits? Never. I just dont think they measure up well in a 5 way pot. |

He could easily have called the $4 rather than making it $26, and I think that's a lot better play. Then you have a multi-way pot with plenty of stack depth and plenty of deception and can hope to flop top set, ideally, or even the low end of a straight would be ok, albeit with the obvious dangers.

Calling is insanely stupid. You are hitting an ace less than 1 in 6 flops, so either he shoves and prays or folds. If hero feels that no one will fold to a shove he probably should fold.

[/ QUOTE ] Hero would be calling $22 when the pot would be around $170 and if we assume the two players behind him also call the pot will be over $200 easily justifiying a call to see if he hits a set. To summarize my last post for anyone with ADD. Hero should just call with his weak aces, everyone will call his re-raise and I doubt hes going to do well in a 5 way all-in pot with crappy aces. |

Re: 200$PLO: Hilarious action, and I have AAxx
He can can for 22 dollars but he will have put in almost 25% of his stack with weak AAxx. The general rule of thumb with AAxx is try to get 30-40% of your stack in preflop minimum or get a small amount in. Putting in 24% of hero's stack to flop less than 1 in 6 sets seems like a risky proposition.

Fold preflop, seriously.

Re: 200$PLO: Hilarious action, and I have AAxx
I would never go for a limp raise OOP unless I was sure I could get it down to heads up or 3 handed. Anything more than that and the chances a bare AA holds up is practically zero.
