Hi,
i´m playing poker for some weeks and i´m interessted in understanding some of the math behind calculating the odds. I´m especially interessed in calculating them for suited connectors. Here is my demand: Can somebody show how to calculate the odds for flopping a: 1. OESD with suited connector 2. a four flush with a suited connector 3. for both together I still know the odds (use pokeroffice) but i ´d got some problems to clear my errors in reasoning so it would be great if somebody could do that using some examples. regards 1. |

Say you have 10-j s . Here are the flop possibilities :
1) q-k-x where x is not an ace or a 9 : 4*4*34 +4c2*4*2 = 592. But I've also included some cases where you have a better draw; for instance, a flush draw , which has to be omitted . This happens 34 + 8*4 + 8*4 + 3+3 = 107 592-107 = 485 . Since there are 3 different pairs of cards that gives you an oesd , you multiply this number by 3 and note that these events are mutually exclusive . The answer is 485*3/50c3 = 0.0742... 2) 11c2*39/50c3 = 0.1094... 3) In order to do 1 , you need to know 3 so the answer to 3 is 107*3/50c3 = 0.0163..... |
