Default Why is it that pokerstars is such a popular site for online players?

For the everyday grinder they offer no rakeback promotion, and only at the highest vip levels do they offer nice perks. I understand the high volume of players makes the site very attractive to people who want to multi-table, but it seems like these players are missing out on very lucrative rakeback deals. Could somebody please fill me in if im overlooking some details of the vip packages at pokerstars, thanks.

I believe the rake itself is lower at pokerstars. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, many people have worked out RB %s for FPPs based on your VIP level.

Add in game selection and availability and it's easy to see why they do so much business.

I just wish they'd stick to a 1/2 structure at all limits tho.

in small stakes fix limit there were some posts about how much rake each site take. search for it.

brief overview:
rake at 2-4
stars: 2.4 BB/100
Party: 3.2 BB/100 (i am not exactly sure, but it's 3.xx)

Exactly. Rake is significantly lower than on any other site except full tilt.
If you play 15k hands a month 3/6 you'll be platinum star, do this constantly and you are supernova. Platinum star already offers ~25% rakeback which is fine considering the competition on sites that offer more.

And I believe as a supernova you get about 25% of that back in FPPs, right? So it's not a bad deal, actually. So that's 1.8 BB/100 then, equivalent to 43% RB at a party-like site. (even though 1.8 BB/100 is, of course, still a sick amount to pay. They generally make more than you do...)

supernova is 30% rakeback if you take 1500$ for points bundles.

if you do amazon or expedia vouchers it's even a bit more.

but whats the deal with 4x% party like site... i guess I need to have a PM

No, I just meant with 25% rb at stars you pay an equal absolute amount at party with 43% rb, because the stars rake is lower to start with. So I was comparing to the various, easily found, 30% RB deals on different rooms.

Of course it still can't compete with some 100% rb prop-deal.

It varies by stakes and table-size so it also depends on your preferred game.
For some players it can definitely be higher than 25%.

I've read that on SNG's and MTT's for SN's it is 27%. I believe that SNG's and MTT's will be the only games where the RB equivelncy remains consistent.

I keep $$$ there for the MTT's.

As a Euro player, I agree that I have much better options for Ring - generally I don't play sites without much softer tables and at least 50% RB or equivalent...

At higher stakes though, the rake become much less of an issue than at $100NL or $200NL tables and Stars do have a lot of players and therefore the better game selection may well make up for the fact that the average player is a bit tougher.

Also at higher stakes the saftey of your $$ and great customer service becomes of paramount importance, and their VIP system sucks less.

To be honest Stars is the best site for MTT's, easiest for push-botting lots of SnG's at once, fine for the micro or higher stake cash player. It's just for the $50NL to $200NL non-US player that its cash games suck compared to some other sites...
