My immediate thought is j9 diamonds, or possibly 89 diamonds. I just think this is a combo draw here that he is pushing way too hard. I also wouldn't be surprised to see kx of diamonds here for a pair and draw again. To me this looks like a tough spot, and calling and folding both look ok, but I think this is a pretty close call.
