UTG+1 (t2900) Hero (t2960) MP2 (t2705) MP3 (t3185) CO (t2895) Button (t3265) SB (t3615) BB (t5670) UTG (t2715) UTG+1 is a winning player, who has played very tight so far. He's only been in a couple of pots and hasn't shown down anything yet. I've been playing pretty tight too. It looks like I'm getting taken to valuetown on every street here, he can only shove the river for value with 3 hands. Is this completely std? Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 1 fold</font>, UTG+1 raises to t90</font>, Hero calls t90, 5 folds</font>, BB calls t60. Flop: (t285) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)</font> BB checks, UTG+1 bets t210</font>, Hero calls t210, BB folds. Turn: (t705) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img](2 players)</font> UTG+1 bets t420</font>, Hero calls t420. River: (t1545) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]] (2 players)</font> UTG+1 bets t2180 (All-In)</font>, Hero...??? |

Why wouldn't you consider raising pre-flop or on the flop?

Why wouldn't you consider raising pre-flop or on the flop? [/ QUOTE ] I would consider RR preflop (from this position) if UTG+1 was loose, or if i thought calling would lead to more callers and a multi-way pot...RR preflop this deep makes it really easy for UTG+1 to play against me IMO - both pre and post-flop. Raising the flop is really, really bad against a good player for the same reason(s). |

This deep? You've only got 100 bb. Also on the whole I would have thought it made you harder to play against than just 3-betting AA/KK. (Note: I mainly play 6-max cash, so feel free to ignore that. I also basically agree with your reasoning here)
So you are saying that on the flop given this player's tight opening range/understanding of the game, raising is bad because you are folding out all of the hands you beat, but giving value to those you are behind to? But on the turn you might want to raise to charge eg AQdd to draw? Is that right? I think turn call is fine, because raising an amount which would deny odds to a combo draw would pot-commit you, which you probably don't want to do. Also, from your analysis, combo draws here aren't that much of his range (AKdd-AJdd), and AKdd is, as you say, freerolling on you. Hope I haven't completely misunderstood |

I agree with the other posters that by simply calling all the way down to the turn/river, you misplayed the hand. I reraise to about 700 or so on the flop.

[/ QUOTE ]Agreed, put in a raise to find out where you stand. OP sas he can only have 3 hands, I'd guess more like 10-15. There are winning players out there who will fold for 20 hands then open for 90 with QJdd or even 67 for that matter. |
