Just cos theres an anomoly doesnt mean it will work again.
Who wins more? a dude who has read 1 book or a dude with equal skill who has read 10?

"ceteris baribus" is not even close to being correct. You need to read Latin for Dummies.

It's one letter off. You need to learn the meaning of the word "close."

Maybe we are all reading too many poker books. Gus hansen has won several million dollars playing poker. The only book he says he has read is Sklansky's Hold em poker. Hellmuth also says that he has not read many books.

You've named two successful players who haven't read many books. Therefore we will be successful players if we don't read books? Well that makes perfect sense, by this logic I could have my grandmother enter a poker tournament and expect her to win because she has never read a poker book.

Even if Gus haven't read lots of books .. He gomes from being one of the worlds most succesfull backgammon player, where he has read lot of books

Gus has stated in a danish magazine that he discusses a lot of hands with other players.

And I recalled Phil saying in PPLP hat the guy that hosted the local game at his campus, where he learned how to play was his mentor for a prolonged period of time

Backgammon with the cube is basically a pot-limit game. Estimating your chances based on Bayes combinations is very similar to poker. The transition shouldn't be very difficult.

Maybe Hansen did not read many books, but he definitely studied Poker a lot and he shows a very scientific approach to the game.
