Odds On: What color will Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's baby's eyes be at birth?

Now I've never had kids before. And I know brown is the dominant gene. But isn't aren't most babies born with blue eyes and then the color later changes to their true color after a few months?

No, I have green eyes and one of my kids had blue eyes that changed at about 6 months. It is very rare to be green right at birth.

The interesting question is whether the father is who she says it is. Brown is dominant, but remember that your eyes are many genes and it is possible for someone to carry the blue or green recessive gene and pass that one on. To say it another way, if you have one brown and one blue gene, your eyes are going to be brown but if you mate with a blue eyed person, your kids have a 50%/50% chance of being blue. If both parents have brown/blue genes, then you have 75% brown and 25% blue, etc.

Personally, I think that there is a remote chance that the baby will be Lebron's.

Yes this is all true, but we don't care what color the eyes end up changing to, we only care that babies' eyes are nearly always grey/blue at birth.

I don't know any exact statistics but I've definitely heard that Caucasian babies are generally born with blue eyes. Nicole is half black though, correct??
