When will be a good time to jump in and buy this industry leader?

No joke. At some point the industry will consolidate and they will be even more powerful.

I can't see how they will be more powerful, assuming they are around at all.

After reading your post, i looked to find that the stock was down 23% today..

Hmm, i thought, I'm gonna text my good friend who works at countrywide. The following text conversating ensued:

Me: LOL countrywide down 23 percent today ship the unemployment
Him: Already got layed off today
Me: WTF for real? Im a horses ass
Him: Yeah you are

I guess they unloaded 500 people from their home office in Cali, as well as 200+ here in Tampa in last few days..

Note to self: Make sure your friend isn't canned before making jokes about the viability of his company.

It's gonna get worse within the next year or so.

The amount of ARMs that are going to re-adjust with higher interest rates are going to be 3-4x the amount of ARMs re-adjusted this year and the last which caused the big fiasco this month.

That's my speculation from talking with a lot of real estate investors.
