AJo reraise from sb, 100NL
This is a odd hand I was in yesterday. Villians stats are 25/15, he has a $100 stack and I cover, there are 5 persons on the table. My stats are 16/11.
UTG folds, CO (villian) raises to $4, button folds, I have A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the sb and reraised (nothing I usually do) to $13.50 hoping to take it down right there, villian called. Flop ($28): A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet $20, villian calls. Turn ($68): K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check (I don't think he has AK or Kx or the flush but I want to keep the pot small, I am after all still behind AQ), villian checks. River ($68): 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I? (villian has $66 left) I thought about diffrent lines: 1. push hoping villian calls with a worse ace 2. push hoping villian calls with a flush (his kicker also flushed), sure I will sometimes be beat by the Q of hearts, but he could have another heart as well 3. check/call, he could be bluffing or valuebetting a worse flush 4. fold, there is not much we can beat. I think villian would play AK or 55 more aggresivly. My read was that he had a good ace like AQ, and if he does he might also have me over flushed. |

Re: AJo reraise from sb, 100NL
i would make a value bet, about half the pot with the second nut flush. Every hand you bet would check behind on river, so i think you have to bet here and call an AI.
I dont see how you can fold here |

Re: AJo reraise from sb, 100NL
I think villain is more likely to show up with A9+ and no heart than anything else. That check behind on the turn looks like a pot control type play with a marginal hand that didn't want to get raised by a flush or a K. With the K he has to bet to protect his hand, and I expect most players will bet the flush draw with position if it's to the nut flush. Smaller flush draws might well check though as the board is paired.
I don't like checking the river as he gets to see a cheap showdown with his Ax hands and small flushes, betting small also risks letting him off cheaply here. I make a decent 75%-85% bet. The over flush doesn't worry me on a river where his hand range is still quite wide and when there is only one card to fear. |

Re: AJo reraise from sb, 100NL
unless you intend to c/f stick it in.
if you're planning to call, you lose value from lesser hands that might call, and lose max to better hands that push. |
