Banks to use in Cambridge/Boston?
Going to MIT. What bank is best. Good rates on savings and no-fees on checking preferrable of course.
Oh also, this one is kinda a must. They must allow hook up to epass. Thanks! |

Re: Banks to use in Cambridge/Boston?
"Good rates on savings"
Doesn't matter as you should be linking your checking account to an ING or other online savings account. You can even get an ING account now with free atm card and checks and get interest on your checking account balance. If you want a B&M bank, BoA offers 5 yrs free student checking and their ATMs are everywhere. TD Banknorth offers free checking and I think free use of any ATM, but I'm not sure. |

Re: Banks to use in Cambridge/Boston?
I've had BofA and am generally a pretty satisfied customer. Their ATMs really are everywhere.

no offense, but how is it possible that you got into MIT and can't navigate the tubes of the internet?

Re: Banks to use in Cambridge/Boston?
There is also MITFCU - MIT Federal Credit Union which is nice if you're all about the credit unions which I was prior to getting here. And you're lucky because they just finished setting up a branch in the student center so that you no longer have to walk all the way to Tech Square to get any service. You'll see them at booths and [censored] during orientation - free student checking etc and they have a mastercard debit card and there are ATMs in the student center and what not that I believe are surcharge free for them.
BofA is the other answer. Again, there is a branch in the student center so these are your best two options. BofA is ubiquitous, but also an evil devil bank. I have accounts with both of the options I gave you so they may also be unavoidable. Also - enjoy freshman physics! |
