bigballz instead of slating people, what do you put him on.

also why is check callin on the river bad.
i would always check call here as pot control. i wouldnt bet 700 and fold when i could check call upto 900 all the time.

The reason why checkcalling river is bad is that there are worse hands that will check behind, but might call a bet, while there's a very small chance he bluffs if we check. Therefore, our equity vs. his calling range if we bet is better than vs. his betting range if we check. Though, there's a little kink if we are unsure whether villain could raise w/ a worse two pair this way when we intend to fold to a raise.

Usually, I would say that villains will typically just call if they have AT or worse.

Agree w/ bigballz. Though, if you don't think this particular villain will have/call w/ a worse hand that won't bet if you check, then c/c might be better. This is not usually the case tho.

cheers mikej for clarifying the logic of the bet fold on the river. just i do see villain value betting 56->AT sometimes.

When he shoves river, what do you think he has? I would think we would have already heard from a set or flush, although maybe not the nut flush. I think AT is the hand that makes the most sense for him to have, so I don't think I could find a fold here.

Ok I am caught between not wanting to hijack this thread and also not wanting to start a brand new one with the same hand as the topic of discussion, so I will just proceed..

For the people who fold, my question is:
How much less of a shove does it have to be for you to call?

and for the people who call,
How much more of a shove does it have to be for you to fold?

Seems like a fair followup question. I probably play it exactly like the OP (omg i finally got a chance to say "op" AND not butcher the syntax) only because killing self is not an option. By the way, djk, when he shoves the river, what do i think he has? I think he has a flush. It doesnt matter to me whther we "should" have heard from him on previous streets...he is speaking faily loudly now into the ear of someone who has fired full barrels each street.

Seems like one of those hands where I would fold if i were only in one tourney but even if I thought it might be a fold I would just call because at this point on a sunday I am usually in 8 games and would probably just say "f it...worst case I lose and can focus on the others"

(the first step is admitting it, so they say)
