Phil Gordon bad beat
I'm trying to find the clip of Phil's bad beat against Gavin Smith in the Heads-up championship.
Phil has aces and Gavin has 10 4 of hearts, or something like that. Phil's face tweaks in agony when Gavin makes the flush. Can't find it in search or on youtube. Thanks for the help. |

Saturday, 03rd of March 2007 08:21 PM And just when I say that, Phil Gordon and Gavin Smith get all in on a flop of J Q 9 . Phil shows pocket rockets A A and Gavin shows T 4 for a flush draw. The 5 turn brings Gavin his flush but another heart would give Phil the higher flush. But the 2 came on the river and it's over. Gavin Smith is the first player to advance from this group. |

Re: Phil Gordon bad beat
Do you think of this as a bad beat, an open end st8 draw with two cards to come?
I only think of the 1, 2 or maybe 3 outer as a bad beat. |

Hmmm...I thought Gavin flopped the flush. [/ QUOTE ] No, that was the best part. Gordon's face was just priceless. When I'm running bad, I often cheer myself up by zeroing in on the face of the player who is ahead in a big all-in pot to see what he looks like if the suckout comes. I love the line in "Biggest Game in Town" when Chip Reese loses a huge pot late in the tournament to Bill Smith (Chip's top set losing to Smith's combo draw). "Reaching forward unsteadily, [Smith] dragged the mountain of chips toward him while Reese watched, mouth drawn tight, eyes pained and astonished." |

Re: Phil Gordon bad beat
Definitely not a bad beat... but agree with OP that watching Gordon lose was gold!
You can probably find the clip somewhere here on NBC's poker site |
