Hey guys, do I suck at poker?

Well here's what happened. I used to play regularly, not a whole lot but a few thousand hands a month(.50/1, I was moving up to 1/2 when the bill passed). Once Party closed up shop for US players, I withdrew all my money and stopped playing. I recently started playing again, and while I have been moderately successful, it's obvious to me that things aren't the same as they used to be. Whether it's because of tougher games, loss of skill, or just running poorly, I'm not sure. It's probably a combination of all 3. Like I said, I play .50/1, THESE GAMES SHOULD BE BEATABLE.

I honestly don't remember what my winrate was when I played at Party, but it was somewhere around 3 BB/100. My winrate since I started playing is .8BB/100 through ~3K hands(ZOMG sample size, I know)

I don't really know what purpose this post serves. I guess I'm just wondering if the games are THAT much different, especially at the micro-limits. I feel like I'm playing the same way I did in the past. Maybe I'm just a little rusty, and need to look over SSHE and start posting more on the strategy forums.

games are still marginally beatable but the rake is high and there are lots of tags everywhere on certain sites

you're probably rusty / need to make adjustments to your game; party back in the day was a joke

I think you answered your own questions.

The games may be tougher if you don't adjust. Most players still play poor poker whether aggressive or not. Exploit their weaknesses.

What's the word on 6 max? I dabbled with that back in the day, how are those games?

PS almost exclusively, I play on UB a little to work on that damn bonus still sitting in my account(almost done, and when I am I'll be gone for good). Although I've been thinking about trying out FTP.

yea stars games are especially nitty at .5/1 fullring. ub bonus sloooow [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] fulltilt is a bit better. try 6max on stars. it requires some retooling of your game but you play more hands and have more decisions to make so if you are doing okay there are lots more players to take advantage of more often.

Not much to add, but I'm in the same boat. I've played 2 full months now at FTP $1/2. I feel the games are definitely beatable, but haven't figured out how for myself yet. My observations based on only 80,000 hands: more than 2/3ds of players are losers; most of the high volume players are slight losers; very few are big winners 2+BB/100; have to create money since games tend to be tight and aggressive; many tags have adjusted by open raising UTG+ 66, A7s, AT and any broadway; but there's not enough isolation raising, or 3 betting light open raisers, or blind stealing; Table starting is key to find good targets, followed by seat selection; rake is too tall at 2.2BB/100, but the rakeback and Ironman freeroll return half of it.

I don't think you suck at poker. It's that you haven't found the right adjustments. At least that's what I tell myself. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
