Default Speed of pickup using Craigslist?

I bought some new couches that were out of stock and expect them to be ready for delivery sometime during the next 3 weeks. I'll have a 4 day notice before they are delivered, but I need to remove my old matching sofa, love seat and chair from my apartment during this 4 day window.

I have two options.
(1) Salvation Army or similar charity pickup service.
(2) Sell through Craigslist or something similar.

The Salvation Army pickup service can pickup the furniture on short notice, but I don't get any $$ for this. I've never used Craigslist before and have no idea of how fast someone will pick up the used furniture.

For those of you with experience with Craigslist, if I sell my furniture for a hugely reduced cost (~$200 for a set that was bought for $1000+ and is still in decent shape), how fast does someone typically buy/pick up the furniture? Will my being on a second floor apartment matter?

I to was a little upset this thread was about furniture but since I opened it here is my experience.

Last time I moved, I sold a couch (paid 2k sold 500) and a rug (paid 150 on ebay sold 300) on CL. I posted the ads with pictures and went to eat lunch. When I got back I had literally 50+ emails. I sold them both that afternoon for full asking price.

I would try CL and set up the salvation army as a last resort. Pictures in your ad will make all the difference.

Good luck

This is the reason I opened this thread too, and I'm feeling let down at this point. I will say that I'd be shocked if you couldn't make a little money off of craigslist and have someone pick it up very quickly though.

This sums up my feelings as well. I never in a million years would have thought this was about furniture.
