why not just c/r to 80 and play for stacks from there?

I don't like your line. It's pretty obvious and we don't fare well against villain's calling range. When called you probably have only 6 outs and with such a big overshove you prolly need villain to fold at least 70% to break even (someone could look this up). Once villain pots the flop I doubt you have enough fold equity especially since you've been 3-betting him a lot and because he's very passive. Your draw looks hot but it's really not that good (the idiot end of a straigth and a 8 high flush...).
Leading this flop is way better because villain is passive. You will get value from Asx kind of hand and will only get raised by hand against which you have a better equity when you 3-bet shove. That's because villain is more likely to just call hands that have a flush or straigth potential and raise only hands that fear a fourth spade or four straight. I don't like a c/r to 80 because he will flat call a vast majority and will be in a sick spot. |

i definitely prefer leading but this is fine. you aren't called hardly ever but if you are you have 34% equity against overpair + spade, 60% against just a straight overpair, or 44% against a set. a lot of players will fold JsJx/QsQx to your raise too.
also when he pots flop he prob doesnt have a made flush which is obv your worst case scenario. most people arent potting here with a made a/k/q high flush. |
