Default QQ fold river?

First hand post ... I have no reads at all, this is about the third or so hand I have played. I am wondering if I am supposed to fold river or not?

PokerStars 0.05/0.10 Hold'em (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Flop: (10 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, CO bets, Button calls, SB calls, Hero raises, UTG calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls.

Turn: (10 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, CO calls, Button folds, SB folds.

River: (13 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, CO calls, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 15 BB

I figured the flush hit and/or the king. I guess its probably an obvious fold?

I'd call. We're probably good here more than 1 out of 15 times, right?

We have the cutoff beaten here like 95% of the time.

What I thought I was doing was waiting for someone in later position to bet and I would then raise to supposedly make it unprofitable for the flush (and other) draws.

c/r the flop is no good. in most situations where you are the aggressor preflop and you have a hand just bet the flop. you dont know where the bet is coming from, if at all. Additionally if you think you can fold out anyone with a half decent draw then you are mistaken. You really cant protect you hand here...its a big pot.

VALUE BET >>>>>>>> PROTECTION in the micros.

I thought that when the pot is big one was supposed to protect there hand. Anyway I'm sure I have a lot of things mixed up though. I just read SSHE for the first time and am on the second time right now. On p. 63 "When the pot is extremely large", is what I thought I was following. That example has the pot being 24 small bets on the flop though and my hand was 10 or so.

Don't check the flop. Lead the flop. You don't want to risk a board this coordinated getting checked through. If someone on your immediate left raises, then great, it just gives the field unprofitable odds to chase a gutshot.

You are probably beaten, but no way am I folding the river getting 13:1 odds. It's ok to payoff in big pots.
