Is this the flop I wanted?
Live 1-2 game. I've been at the table 20 minutes, no strong reads on villain. He hasn't done anything unusual, seems reasonable. He has ~300, I have ~270.
He raises UTG to 15, gets two callers (typical in this game), I look down at AdQd on the button and call. Flop comes: Ac 10h 5s UTG bets 45, folded to me. MY PLAY? |

Re: Is this the flop I wanted?
i like 3 betting preflop since u have position.
As played and w/o reads i would take a flop line of raise and fold to a 3 bet then check behind any non Q turn. |

Re: Is this the flop I wanted?
It depends. Sometimes I rasie the flop. Builds a larger pot, but also gives you the option to fold to a 3B w/o losing more on the turn and river. He also probably won't bet into you on the turn, so you can check behind if you want to re-evaluate the hand.
Otherwise, you just call down. Raising the turn could be a good play, but it could get expensive if your wrong. In this spot, being new to the table, I just call b/c your HU and can gain information about the other player. If he checks it to you later, you bet. |
