Anyone a dealer in AC?
I have been thinking off and on about becoming a dealer. I was wondering how good the money is and how hard it is to get a job? How much is a typical Casino Dealing school?
Thanks for any information. |

Re: Anyone a dealer in AC?
I'm not a dealer but 4 people i know who recently went through the dealing school programs etc for poker still have not found jobs and they all have been out of school for 3 months or longer.
Some of them are also lazy though.... take it for what its worth, i'm not sure how many casinos are hiring poker dealers right now. Everyone wants to deal at the borgata but i hear its hard to get in there without experience. Also from what i understand all new dealers start out dealing tournaments in the larger joints. |

I've been applying all summer with no success, and I have experience I'm waiting for the upcoming taj and borg tournaments to try to get in then.

typical casino school will cost you $400. Casino license goes for $350. Most dealers make $25 an hour in tips + your hourly wage. Borgata and Caesars dealers probably make ~$35 an hour in tips.

[/ QUOTE ] Dealing tournaments as a "temporary" dealer is your best way to get into these rooms. Borgata has become pretty tough, people stay temporary for a while before they get hired part time. And even after they hire you part time you deal tournaments for the first couple of months you work there. I believe the dealers at borg make $8 per down plus an hourly wage for dealing tournaments. |

This may sound dumb, but what does the term "down" mean?
What school did you goto if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for the replies. |

Re: Anyone a dealer in AC?
A friend of mine attended the casino school on route 30 in Absecon. He "graduated" in January and still has not found a job as a dealer.
He has gone for several auditions, however he has not caught on anywhere yet. I do not think the job market looks very solid for new poker dealers. |
