Default \"Low Brow\" Goodness Thread

Now, the first thing one notices when venturing into El D's GDF is the presence of so much... culture. Class. Some might even go so far as to call it snobbishness (snobbery? is either a real word?). I don't mind calling myself a snob in certain areas, such as movies. I like that I'm a movie snob. Maybe your 'cultured' self is a wine snob. We've all got a little bit of it in us.

But we also all have those somewhat embarrassing guilty pleasures that we love. The 'low-brow', if you will. This thread is dedicated to getting over the fact that you can be a food snob and still love easy mac or microwave pizzas. Perhaps you are a indie music lover in front of the forum, but secretly have avril lavinge all over your ipod. I know it's hard to 'come out of the closet', but i'll start.

My biggest thing is movies. I haven't watched as many as i want to, but i'm getting there quickly. It's a recent thing, but i made a list of something like 70 movies that are the all time greats or simply looked good, and i've already seen like 30 this year. I really enjoy everything about a good film, and i despise most 'blockbusters'. My biggest weakness is

I sincerely love this movie, and not in a 'so good it's bad' way. When i saw it, i thought it was in the top 3 i'd seen. It has a 20% score on rottentomatoes. It's been called every possible name relating to being trite, fake, poorly done, pseudo-intellectual, etc. I'm almost legitimately ashamed at how cool i thought this movie is, and truthfully still do. It's my low brow love.

How about you EDGDF? Where's your low brow dirty secret? This thread is to both be embarassed and celebrate this stuff at the same time.

DO,

I really like Chili's.

I like Tommy Boy and other similar movies a lot.

I like Whopper's (the malted choc balls).

I love a bunch of Avril and Kelly Clarkson songs.

Much more to follow.

I am trying to start to enjoy more 'high brow' food, but i have trouble breaking away from the following.

(also: this thread will probly be x100 better if pics are used)

In fact, i celebrate this one. I'm somewhat ashamed of some of the movies i like, but I'm damn proud of the greasy mess i get at Taco Bell.

Yo quiero Taco Bell!

Also

"some of the greasiest, cheesiest and just plain awsomest food ever."

...and it's not even close. Waffle House is the greatest place ever. I'm never really going to be a foodie i guess.

Nescafe instant coffee - I love it.

I can go to cafes for coffee, I have owned expensive coffee machines - but I like Nescafe Blend43 instant.

For me, it's the other Whopper (the Burger King sandwich). Although I will eat the [censored] out of those damn malted milk balls too.

Diablo,

My objection to Whoppers is not so much the lowbrowness as it is the fact that like every tenth ball in the package is all mushy and gross for reasons I hesitate to speculate on.

NNH, The best Chinese buffet on earth is totally rocked by even a mediocre Indian buffet. The subcontinent owns this category.

kem, Corona and any kind of warm weather.

SC, GTA is now lowbrow. It's art of the highest order. Calling it lowbrow is like calling Beavis and Butthead lowbrow.

All, Going to some random shooting range and blasting away is about as much fun as humanly possible.
