Missed flop steal attempt
Villain 60/22/1.3 WTSD 53% over 90 hands
Im new at the table and cant recall him. Absolute Poker Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $3/$6 6 players Converter Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 folds, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls. Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4.67SB, 2 players) BB bets, Hero... How would you go from here? Should I fold such a coordinated flop but call a less coordinated? |

i tend to call and fold turn ui for metagame if nothing else [/ QUOTE ] this is a pretty bad idea. Here's 1 sb so you can just do the same play next time. Just fold the flop. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't ever play HU, because I don't know wtf I'm doing 6 handed, I can't imagine me playing HU is going to be a good thing. This is the LAG's pot, there is nothing you can do about it. You are calling so you can turn a club, or straight draw, I just don't think it's worht it, when our plan is to fold the turn 75% of the time UI, and this guy is going to bet the turn about always when we just call the flop. |

Re: Missed flop steal attempt
I am peeling here. You have enough to see a turn, hope to improve, and hope for a free look at the river.
btw, the fact that he is a sucky showdown bound station should make this an auotmatic steal: you have a hand with showdown value, you can use your position well, and you can value bet his ass well when you make a hand. |

Re: Missed flop steal attempt
I don't know if this is right, but I wouldn't be stealing with a hand this weak against a player this LAGGY and SD bound. I don't think there's anything wrong with just folding to the flop, you have just 1 OC + a couple of backdoor draws and this board hits a lot of hands.

Re: Missed flop steal attempt
This also might be a good spot to limp the button. It would be better if villain had a lower pfr but against this guy you need a hand to take to showdown. K7 aint it.

[/ QUOTE ] I sometimes think this but I hate limping unless I'm over-limping a small pair or small suited-connector after limpers. If I'm first in I raise. Raising can usually knock out the SB, whereas limping only encourages a 3-way pot making me hate my K-rag. Against someone with what might be approching 100% defence of BB, and who loves to donk the flop - I see little value making steal attempts with crappy hands. I always use steal attmp, BB defend, and cold-called pf on my HUD which helps to decide who to attempt a steal against and whether to attempt it from the CO. |
