The ladyfriend and I are going to see the new Harry Potter move tonight at an IMAX theater with a bunch of people. We're (I wanna say between 6-8 people) all traveling in one van. I do not particularly like Harry Potter, or fantasy movies/novels. The ladyfriend reminded me that almost everyone going is a huge HP nerd. I half-jokingly said I would bring my iPod with me.
Ladyfriend thinks that's incredibly rude, I think it isn't rude at all. What does OOT think? FTR, I'm not actually bringing my iPod. |

are you going to listen to it in the van or teh imax? if you listen to it in the van (which I woudl probably have to being surrounded by a bunch of geeks in a van), then yes, it is rude. If you are only planning on listening to it in teh imax, then...nah...Id hit the flask and listen to some tunes.

Listening to ipod in van = antisocial
Listening to ipod in movie = retarded either way I wouldn't be offended, but I'd think you were a loser |

yes it would definitely be rude in a short van ride to the cinema, listening to it in the movie as someone said would just be retarted, even a bad movie is going to be somewhat interesting, i guess you can bring it with you and if it sucks after 15 minutes pop them in if no one notices. But still if someone sees they're going to think you're kind of stupid.
If you really don't want to go just man up and tell your girlfriend you don't want to go. I think people are going to think you are a huge loser because you seem whipped enough to come to a movie you don't want to and sit their with headphones in. Are you a 10yr old child? |

If I were one of the other people I'd be more shocked that you had iPod on and not listening to ladyfriend than not listening to me. It's not neccessarily rude IMO but just a little unfriendly.

It's a little rude, but who cares. If anybody asks, just tell them that your listening the the HP book and you can't wait for the movie!
