$16 44 CO 5-handed, push 9bbs?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
UTG (t1255) Hero (t1420) Button (t3590) SB (t2300) BB (t4935) Preflop: Hero is MP with 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero? This seemed like a pretty easy push, but SNGPT says the calling ranges have to be pretty tight for this to be a push (66+, ATs+, AJo+ is +.01%). Is it because we're 5-handed that this is so marginal? |

U have a good chance to make the money,a 44 push into 3 players is very marginal.I fold for certain.

You still have 3 to act. They could even call you with A5o and be flipping with you. You're the shortie and it's 5-handed so the range is going to be much wider. I'd fold.
I'd give it more consideration if I were on the Button, but I'd probably still fold there. |

the reason isn't that there are five players left its that you are pushing into three players which is bad with 44

Under 10 bb 5 handed is a lot of pressure to find a hand to go with. This may be the best you get for a while. It's true that A5 is a coin flip, but who calls a big chunk of his stack with that unless desperate?
You need chips. Don't we want to race here for a shot to double up? |

I push this, maybe its a leak but I can't assume im gonna get a better hand than 44 before the BB hits me again which I do not want.

[/ QUOTE ] Only SB would be somewhat crippled (and even he wouldn't be dead in the water) by calling you down. BB and Button both have you easily covered, and if they lose they're still in good position to make the money. Here's my point, or at least how I see it (and it may be a leak, but I feel pretty good about this): this move has a LOT to do with position. 44 is a pretty good hand 5 way, yes, but you are second to act, and what's worse, all of the stacks that are bigger than yours are still in the hand. I'd rather push with a weaker hand on the button after several folds than push a stronger hand 2nd to act. Part of it depends on the way you've been playing--if you've been tight and they think of you that way I'd be more inclined to push it since you prob. have a little more FE that way. If this is in the SB it's obviously an instapush, and I guess I would have to reconsider my claim of not pushing it on the button. I'd prob. have to push it there too. I just can't do it with 3 left to act. A race to double up would be nice, but we don't even know if we will get in a race, so I think it's a marginal play. |
