What do you do about jackpot hands...
1/2 NL cash game.
You have KQc and hit the flush on the turn. However, you also have an OESFD which pays a grand today and a chance at a royal which pays even more. So do you value bet your nut flush and risk not seeing that river card by causing everyone to fold or do you check and take a chance on hitting the straight flush but also a chance at a bare Ac beating your hand? In other words, do jackpot hands ever affect your decisions? Usually you have only one out but with anywhere from 500-1000 up for grabs, surely this has an impact. |

Re: What do you do about jackpot hands...
You shouldnt think about it but if you do want to change your bet this would make since.
If you would normally bet $100 with out the jack pot, and $40 with the jackpot (value to get a call). Why not take the weighted average. 2 cards help you get the jackpot 2/46=.04347. Assume you dont really want to see any of the other 44 cards 44/46=.9565 100*.9565= 95.65 40*.04347= 1.74 95.65+1.74= 97.39. So bet 98 dollars. Big change huh? |

Re: What do you do about jackpot hands...
I would take the jackpot into consideration in this case. To get the straight flush you have 2% * $1,000 or $20 equity. The royal is >$1,000 it is worth $20+ in equity so you are passing up $40+ if you fold your opponents. Compare that with the pot size, the likelihood you lose, and the likelihood of a call on your value bet and make your decision. Since you don't give specifics I can't say what I would do in this case. Plus I suck at NL.

Re: What do you do about jackpot hands...
How do you have the nut flush if you don't have the Ac? You could already be beat, it all depends on how the hand has been played out pre/post flop....

It would be, presuming that the A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is onboard.

[/ QUOTE ] The word nut was an accidental insertion and the Ac was not on board. Do you think taking a minute to check out the jackpot board would be a problem? |

Re: What do you do about jackpot hands...
People would probably notice you checking the jackpot and assume that you have a jackpot-type hand. If its within your field of vision normally, go for it.
Generally though, just play your hand and if you hit, you hit. |

Just play it as normal and get value out of it. The chances of you hitting the royal are very slim.

Re: What do you do about jackpot hands...
Yes, u take the jackpot into consideration. Playing limit a while back, i had 22 on a board of AK2A. I knew 100% sure that one of the other 2 players in the pot had AK, but if a 2 comes, i win $26,000 from jackpot...of course it didn't come.
