Default WHAT COLDCALL MEANS

WHY CANT PEOPLE LEARN WHAT COLDCALL MEANS.
EVEN OLD TIMERS WITH TRILLIONS OF POSTS GET IT WRONG:

COLDCALL:
Villain 1 bets, Villain 2 raises, Hero COLDCALLS.

OVERCALL:
Villain 1 bets, Villain 2 calls, Hero OVERCALLS.

SEE?

coldcalling basically means calling MORE than one bet in one action. in your example the big blind sort of calls LESS than one bet... warmcall?

note the difference between preflop and postflop btw. since the big blind counts as a forced bet, calling a raise from one player is a coldcall.

i.e. utg raises, hero coldcalls.

postflop you need 3 players to achieve the same, as in my example above.

also the term comes from limit, where it makes more sense.

So the term doesn´t really make much sense pf? I sort of understood cold-calling as putting yourself in the middle of a raising war, either signifying extreme strength or extreme stupidity. But bb is not particulary likely to show anymore aggression than anyone else pf.

I always wondered, why use different names for the same thing? I guess its for discussion purposes?

Ah, but it is not the same thing, see.
My first example above is postflop.

Postflop:

COLDCALL:
Villain 1 bets, Villain 2 raises, Hero COLDCALLS.

OVERCALL:
Villain 1 bets, Villain 2 calls, Hero OVERCALLS.

Preflop::

COLDCALL:
Villain 1 bets, Villain 2 raises, Hero COLDCALLS.

COLDCALL:
Villain 1 bets, Villain 2 calls, Hero COLDCALLS.

COLDCALL:
Villain 1 bets, Hero COLDCALLS.

Preflop is different because the big blind is a FORCED BET, and any preflop raise is a 2bet, making any call of a preflop raise a coldcall.

Hey I didnt make the word. You can see the same with 2bets and 3bets.
Preflop: Villain raises (2b), Hero reraises (3b)
Postflop: Villain bets, Hero raises (2b), Villain reraises (3b)

Just think of the big blind as a forced bet, and it all makes more sense.
