I like a call here too. A raise gets played with only by a K or hand you have destroyed. He may elect to bluff-shove the river if it misses draws.

Re: Tilt $163, Basic Turn Decision w/ Trips (Chewy and I disagree)
I like a call because of his stack size. We'll get him AI no matter what if he's got a weaker 9 or a K. If he has a FD/JT, he won't be getting odds to call a shove now, but he'll very often fire again on the river, so calling averages more chips in from a draw. Obv if he has total air calling's better too.

call 100% of the time. call call call. not a lot of action killers again a king (this shallow), you can look like a bluff on the river, depending on what card falls, and despite the fact no one gives credit to this turn raise after flop check, you're not anywhere near deep enough to raise turn to induce a 3-ball frmo a random bluff or draw like i would do in cash,

When your line is raise pre/check back flop/call turn on a draw-heavy board unknowns bluff the river a good amount.

Re: Tilt $163, Basic Turn Decision w/ Trips (Chewy and I disagree)
Ok, so I am for shoving, chewy is for calling.
Well, if our friend has TJ or a flush draw, what do I want to do? Well that depends on his river bluff freq when he whiffs. But generally, I don't think unknowns will double barrel the river that often. Also, if he completes the draw, I will have to pay him off, most likely, after giving him a free card. If he holds a K, I think he's not going to felt anymore often on river by calling now than if I just shove on turn, in fact, there are a few action killer cards, mainly the flush cards and the Aces. Only real argument for calling is that you think that villain will bluff fairly often on the river, which I really don't believe to be the case. Yes, my hand looks weak, but I'm not playing chewy or nath, i'm playing against an unknown tournament player who probably does not have very good hand reading skills. A raise on turn is not even pot sized, and the pot is fairly large/significant to my stack. |
