Default Foxwoods $1/$2 NL seat charge

I am a limit not an NL player so please excuse my ignorance in this area. After being a Foxwoods limit regular for several months I was surprised to learn that they charge players $10/ hour just for the priviledge of playing 1/2 NL. Is that common? I have never heard of seat charges at that limit in any casino. Do they rake the pots in addition to this? If so, I find that highly deplorable. In terms of BB/Hour, how good of a player does one have to be to overcome this charge and still be a long term winner?

No, it's just the seat charge, no rake. If you pull down more than two pots an hour you should prefer this.

lowest raked game is the 20-40. $4 max. all limit games higher than that, when running, are timed games... not that i ever play that high.

Technically no. At 5-10 they do not take the 4th dollar until the pot = 80.

At 10-20 they don't rake a 4th dollar until ... I want to say pot = 100$. I am not sure but it is higher than the 5-10 for some reason.

It seems like a lot for someone who is starting out. It's really nothing when you consider the quality of players that 10 dollars an hour allows you to sit down with. It's easy to overcome.

Time charges/time pots are not that bad lol. Especially if you're a tight player, a time pot is incredibly +EV - you can go an entire 5-6 hour session without paying the house anything by picking your spots.

Other way around. Tight players are at a relative disadvantage to loose players in time charge games and have a relative advantage in raked games. If you had a $5/30min time charge vs a $4max rake and you are a tight player who wins about one pot every half hour, then you are paying more to the house in a timed game.

I don't think timed vs raked games is enough to swing any game from profitable vs unprofitable, however.
