Default Posting Other People\'s Pictures On 2p2 - How Terrible Is It?

Perhaps this would get more of a response in OOT, but I figure it might be a bit more civil here.

Recently I had made a thread in OOT about a sensitive lovelife situation, and posted pics of two people involved. Now there were some hilarious, yet offensive photoshops of everyone involved, and I had a good laugh with it. Unfortunately, though neither other person ever reads 2p2, one of them found it lurking, and was quite pissed, threatening a lawsuit of slander over it (he's an enemy of mine now). I asked Mat Sklansky to delete the thread and he did so which I appreciate. The other person who was a friend was quite upset and ended up deleting all pictures of her online as well as her Facebook account.

It's naive to think that no one else gets a severe backlash for posting pics of their gf/friends/etc. on the internet, but what's the general opinion on this in The Lounge? Do most of you think it's extremely sketchy?

i think you should ask just out of courtesy/respect for privacy, not too mention potential legal suits should something go awry

Yes, publicizing something like a photo is extremely sketchy. Get a model release, like other people do, or stay in the kiddie pool where you belong on this one.

Dont worry about the slander suit.

I think its fun how you said "(he's an enemey of mine now)" -WTF????

Also i think its super funny this girl got rid of her facebook as opposed to playing with the privacy settings.

I don't know how you got these pictures but taking a random picture (even of a friend) that you haven't taken is illegal without the rights from the photographer (and "models"?).

But if it's the caricatures they are pissed about, it's not you who should be sued for that I guess.

I posted the thread at his house on his computer BUT:

- I logged out of my account
- I deleted it from his history/cookie
- I did not post any of the pics on his computer (mine)
- Neither have serious poker-playing friends

So just unlucky there.

2. Considering his ex-gf was quite upset about it all, I'm gonna say I doubt they're hooking up anymore

What could he possibly have been browsing/searching for though that he found 2p2 and that particular post?

What the heck is a model release? All of those were public pics on FB, not random photos I took of them or anything (for the record, I untag any unsightly photos of myself, hope others do that too, I can't imagine have 300 pictures of myself).

Unless you stole the photographs, you should be able to post whatever you wish.
