Buy-ins for 25nl
Hello, I've just dropped 12 buy-ins at this limit, pretty much playing decent. maybe 3 buy-ins total from tilt, but the rest were just a bunch of coolers. It did piss me off, but I kept my mind on the math and stayed calm and focused. I guess playing on full tilt during the day isn't such a great idea. I'll stick with night games from now on.
The players aren't great here, so I'm surprised I lost as much as I have. I'm wondering what type of bankrolls people play with at the higher limits. I'm thinking 40 would be good for me as 20 buy-ins doesn't sound enough, if I have another 12 buy-in swing. (still not over yet however). |

Re: Buy-ins for 25nl
Well as you said you don't think 20 BIs is enough so if you feel a pressure from your BR you should drop down a level. But most people tell you to be agro with your BR so drop down a level and give it another try till you hit the BR you feel comfy playing with.
PS!On higher levels 40 BIs isn't enough either. |

Re: Buy-ins for 25nl
Well, chances are if you've dropped 12 buy-ins at 25NL you aren't playing all that well. It's certainly possible that you're a winner in the game and hit a really bad run of cards, but you probably threw away some money at some point. Have you been a long term (100k+hands) at these stakes? If so, it could be a massive cooler. If not, you should step down limits until you've won consistently for at least 30k hands. The rule of thumb for having 20+ buyins is for players that are long-term winners at their level.

I did move up to 50nl but got knocked back down. I think I won like 36+ (mostly pokerstars) buyins post legislation and if you tack on pre legislation it's close to 70. But yea this is the worst downswing I've had at nl so i'm a little rattled. To give you an idea of a few coolers, KK<AA 3 times, Aces full loses to quads, 99 < J8 679 board, KK <AK all in. And the list goes on. Oh yea AA is a loser during this period. |

Re: Buy-ins for 25nl
If this is all true then what are you worried about? If you feel like you're still a winner in the game, then all that matters is your bankroll. Make sure to have 20 buyins, although 15 is okay if you're fine with moving down if you get down to like 9.

Re: Buy-ins for 25nl
I hit my all time high at NL25 last Wednesday and haven't had one positive day since then so I know what you're feeling. Some of the most god-awful sickening beats you've ever seen. Also, it's subconsciously caused me to change my game and play in a scared way.
I know it'll come around sooner or later for me and I'm sure it will for you as well. |
