I came in with 55 UTG because the table had been respecting my raises. I called his re raise with the intent of seeing a flop in position, and so that people would not think I was raising UTG with complete trash. In retrospect, I probably should have just folded preflop. Once he checked the flop, I figured a bet had a fairly high chance for success. Once he called, I felt like I was getting slow played, so I checked the turn. When he bet big on the river, I almost called. He made the comment, "you can fold your 88 now", but I really wondered why he would make that comment if he wanted a call. Maybe I should have made a hero call, I dont know, but I wish I had just folded preflop and not gotten myself in this mess. Here are more of my thoughts on the hand. To 3 bet the chip leaders UTG raise, he must have at least TT+/AQ+. To check the flop, I was thinking he was giving up with AQ or AK, or slow playing TT or AA. I was now almost certain he did not have JJ-KK, as I believe he would bet. Once he called my bet, I figured it was not AK or AQ, because I think he would check raise or do something other than float me OOP. TT became his most likely hand in my eyes, with AA as second. Now he checks the turn, and I tell myself I am done with the hand. Then falls the river queen, and he pushes all in. My turn check pretty much tells him that my hand is marginal at best. I didnt expect him to push the river with TT or AA because there was no way he would think I would call him. So really I have no idea what is going on, and decide to fold. I feel like I got outplayed very badly in this hand, and would appreciate advice on all streets. I still cant get a hand converter to work, so if someone could please link me to a good one it would be appreciated. |

Re: 50K - chip leader with ~30 remaining - 55 UTG
Initially, you could also limp.
To the reraise fold > push > call. |

my hunch is that when he types in you can fold 88 now, he has 88 beat. Hes been around long enough to know what his line looks like to you, hes prob shoving the the river in the hopes you make a crying call with a midpair and hes obv nailed your range based on his comment. This is a tricky spot, Id be shocked if your 55 was good on the river. I'd prob call his reraise pre hoping to hit a 5, and if not just be done with the hand. whatever thats worth |

Fold to 3bet.
You are not even close to deep enough to call in position. And Shaun's 3bet of an UTG raise is wayyy too strong to try and call in position to abuse him postflop. Just fold to 3bet |

I was going to c/shove this flop vs you pretty sure you would call with your midpair I was quite angry when I didn't and I checked the turn knowing you are checking behind all but sets.
